44. A Christmas Courtship by: Shelley Shepard Gray

Book Bought

Synopsis: Christmas time with a set of characters trying to find love. Atle is in love with his widowed next-door neighbor Sadie. Sadie’s son wants to court the girl next door. They all get help from the local bookmobile woman while also leaning on each other.

Recommend: Yes! A wonderful series book that would be a stand-alone. Atle just wants to be kind and help Sadie with building a room for her son. The family is also dealing with the aftermath of having an abusive father/husband who has passed. Sweetness is how families come together.

43. Double Take by: Melody Carlson

Book Bought

Synopsis: Two girls meet at a coffee shop in town, and seem to feel like they look like one another. They decide to switch places for one week. One girl is supposed to be at her Amish aunt and uncles house to help with an upcoming birth. The other is a classic socialite who lives in New York City in a Penthouse.

Recommend: The cover is horrible. If you can get around how it’s easy for them to switch, the socialite “took German for 4 years” and the other “reads romance books”. I did like how each other them found themselves by being in the exact opposite realm of where they usually act and live.

42. John Newton, the Angry Sailor by: Kay Marshal Strom

Book Bought

Synopsis: This little bite size 125 page book is about John, a boy who grew up with a father that was always on a ship. When his mother passes, he begins to work with his dad. Unexpectedly, two men grab him while at Port to take him on a bigger, well known ship. He misses his father, while being manhandled to do all the duties that no one else wants to do on the ship. He begins to get away, but is brought back to work. He goes through many different things in his life, mainly being known as the angry, God hating man who keeps getting into trouble. Love comes to his life, he is the captain of his own ship, but he still curses God. He finally has a renewed love for God and becomes what his mother always wanted him to be, a Preacher. I didn’t realize that he was the man who wrote the hymn, Amazing Grace.

Recommend: This tiny book has so much to it! You are rooting for him one minute and then feeling like he deserves all that has happened to him. You will enjoy finding out what has become of his life after reading how much he had gone through.

41. ONE TO WATCH by: Kate Stayman-London

Book Bought: REREAD

Synopsis:Bea is a plus-size gal who blogs about the clothes she wears and where she finds them. She hits send when drunk one night, talking about the newest Bachelors TV show, The Main Squeeze. She talks about there never being a plus-size woman on the show!! Of course, the producers find her, and she is the next Main Squeeze contestant!! It goes along with many of the men saying ugly things off and on camera about her body type, still having feelings for an old flame, getting down to the nitty-gritty, and having numerous men who do love spending time with her. Who will she end up with?

Recommend: I could not put the book in for the second time. I didn’t remember who she ended up with, and I just loved the end. I know that many people didn’t like the book bc the main character is a plus-size person and it doesn’t always put her in the greatest light. I still really enjoyed it.

39. The Lady’s Mine By: Francine Rivers

Book Bought: REREAD

Synopsis: In 1875, Kathryn arrives in a tiny cold mining town, bc she has been banished by her stepfather. She has been given her mother’s inheritance and a small amount of money. The inheritance consists of her uncle’s tiny office and printing press. She has no idea what she is getting into when she arrives in this tiny, almost all-men town. She certainly is not there to seek anyone out for marriage. Matthias, owner of the local saloon and hotel has a special interest in the new woman in town. He was friends with her uncle and can see the same resemblance and mannerisms in her. Matthias does what he can to win her heart, while Kathryn is all about turning the town into something presentable.

Recommend: Yes! I forgot how much I loved this story. The author of my other favorite book, Redeeming Love, makes you feel like you are in the middle of town. You can see the dirt and muck she treks through, and you feel like you are right there. The ending is so good, while I didn’t remember what happens at the beginning of my reread, I just loved the ending to the book. I highly recommend this book to anyone.

38. I’ve got your number by: Sophie Kinsella

Borrowed from Library

Synopsis: Poppy loses her engagement ring. Not only that but her phone is stolen. When she lifts a phone out of a trash can, she gives the new number to someone who can call her if they find it. While making calls, she finds out the owner, Sam, has a personal assistant that uses the phone. By having a phone to keep up with wherever this precious ring is, Poppy begins to help Sam with his work needs. What happens when she has to try to keep the family from knowing she lost the ring, preparing for a wedding, and helping Sam with his business?

Recommend: I hear about this book from a YouTuber. It was one of her all-time favorite romances. Since I’ve been riding rom-com books I thought I would try this out. It was really cute! You didn’t know what was going to happen until the end!
