22. Beach Read by: Emily Henry

Bought Book: REREAD

Synopsis:
Augustus and January are well-known authors. When they end up living next door to each other in Beach houses, they end up helping each other with their books. This story was so heartwarming, and even if you kind of knew what was going to happen, it was such a good read getting through it.
If you like a hate to love troupe, this one is for you.

Recommend: I looked, and I first read the book April of 2022. Loved it then and loved it again. Would recommend to anyone who loves a hate to love troupe. ❤️

20. Between shades of gray By: Ruta Sepetys

Bought at McKays REREAD

Synopsis: Lithuania 1941. 15 year old Lina is taken with her mother and brother to a camp. Her father was made to go to a different one. They are thrown into cattle cars and taken to a camp in Siberia. It takes everything for them to survive!

Recommend: Yes, how you don’t know how to say that I liked the book, when it was such a hard read. In looking it up, I found that they have made a movie about this book. It’s a Scholastic book, and so many teenagers have read it. Even though it is a really tough read, it’s one to put your own life into perspective and also what others have gone through.

19. Her Holiday Secret by: Jolene Navarro

Bought at McKays

Synopsis: Catalina left town, pregnant as a teenager. She is all of a sudden back for the holidays when her father is really sick. Now she is back, and the whole town sees her daughter that looks just like Andres, her old boyfriend.

Recommend: This is a trope that I don’t always like. When a woman just shows back up after years to tell the father of her child that he is a dad. Then, there is strife or wouldn’t the woman think that he would want to see the child all of the time? This is why the teo main characters usually come together in the end and marry.

18. Jemima J by: Jane Green

Book Bought: REREAD

Synopsis: Jemima is overweight. She has been at the same job with no going up the ladder. Her roommates make fun of her. Once her coworkers and herself go to a class to learn about the world wide web, she begins to talk to a guy named Brad who lives in LA. She can’t go visit him bc she isn’t skinny like the picture she sent him. She begins to go to the gym, eat healthy, and stand up for herself. But, what happens when she does go all the way to LA and what begins as ends in weirdness?

Recommend: I still would. This book came out in 1999 and I have two copies. One copy is highlighted like crazy. Rereading it, the only thing that I didn’t really like is that she was supposed to be overweight, but it says she was 204 pounds. That really isn’t obese and huge that her character was spoken about. I still think that they should make a movie out of this book.

14. The Make-Up Test by: Jenny L Howe

Borrowed from the library!

Synopsis: ONE TO WATCH meets BEACH READ in this smart, swoony, romantic comedy, in which two college exes find themselves battling against each other—and their unresolved feelings—for a spot in a prestigious literature Ph.D. program.

Recommend: This is my favorite book as of 2023!! It reminds me of Jemima J but one that a chubby gal doesn’t lose weight, but just figures out herself in life! Definitely think you should read it!!
