33. Charlotte’s Web

33. Charlotte’s Webb By: E. B. White

At times when you think of a book that you have already read or a movie that you have already seen, you instantly get an image. When I think of Charlotte’s Web, this is what I think of.

I don’t know how many times that I have seen this movie but I don’t remember reading the book. The book was just like the movie.

32. Anne of Green Gables

32. Anne of Green Gables By:  L.M. Montgomery

There are many different women who grew up reading all of these books. I just found them later in life. I remember when I was working at DFCS, I would spend the night at my friend Heidi’s house on Weds so we could watch American Idol together. We would sit with tea and just have a good time. Somehow the books of Anne came up. Heidi had all of the books and I began to borrow them. I couldn’t put them down. And then we watched the older mini series of the same name. It was so good and I think that just like I was so excited to get a new Babysitter’s Book Club book from the local bookstore, I would have so enjoyed the Anne series when I was younger. It goes along with my love for the Amish and the simple life.

And so, if you have a young daughter, these books would be wonderful to read with her together. And also, if you just need a new set of books to enjoy.

Anne wants to do things on her own. She wants to do everything her way. Also, in many ways, the young boy who was always in her classes in the small school house, fell in love with her before she could realize that she was lovable. And so, you hear a lot about Gilbert. The boy/man who always loved Anne of Green Gables.

And again, if you want to have an easy read book that you will allow you to fall in love in with the characters, this one is for you.

31. Jane Eyre

31. Jane Eyre by: Charlotte Brontë

This is one of my favorite books. Some people love Pride and Prejudice, I love this one. I also remember going to see the movie and being so excited b/c it was just like the book.

Jane Eyre: A woman who has grown up in a house that didn’t want her and was cruel to her. After getting older she falls in love with a man. Little does she know, what she feels is a ghost in the house, is something/someone else.

I feel like this is a book that everyone should read. I don’t really tell that about many books.

And so, if you need a book to read, I think you should read this one. It’s a love story and also a girl figuring out who she is.

30!!!! A Prayer for Owen Meany

30. A Prayer for Owen Meany By: John Irving.

30 book and I am so glad that this is the 30th! Many that I have already read I have not liked that well.

I think that this one should be on the list. This one is one that everyone should read.

Without giving a lot away, I will just say a couple of things. When the character Owen Meany speaks in this book, it is all CAPS. WHEN HE HAS ANYTHING TO SAY TO A PERSON OR JUST OUT LOUD TO THE WORLD, YOU READ IT LIKE THIS. AND I LIKE IT.

This book is one of the longest ones that I have read, at a whopping 635 pages. And I was sad to go to the last page.

There are so many different things going on in the book, far too many that will show you the perfect ending to a book. And so, I will leave you with synopsis of what others say it is.

A Prayer for Owen Meany is the story of John Wheelwright’s relationship with his childhood friend Owen Meany, a midget with a high, squeaky voice, whose life and death move John to have faith in God. Despite his size, Owen has a commanding presence that directs John’s life.

Did you know that the movie Simon Burch was based on this book? You know that I am a movie made from a book kind of girl. I did not see this movie but looking at it, it very much goes along with the story.
